Harris county Texas covid-19 threat level at Level 2 Orange
You can't make this up.

Should police unions be liable for the behavior of its members?
Should they carry liability insurance paid for by the union members?
Why should the city be liable for the behavior of the police instead of the police union?
I almost shredded my EIP card by mistake (theirs)
Two months after the CARES Act was signed into law, millions of Americans have yet to receive stimulus payments. The process has been held up by a raft of issues, including poor communication, entirely avoidable loopholes, and unnecessary delays. Now, instead of receiving paper checks or direct deposits, about 4 million people will get prepaid debit cards, the Treasury Department announced earlier this month. But even this part of the stimulus rollout has its own problem: made-up names.
On Twitter, several people have reported that the card issuer replaced their last name with their spousesidentifying them with a name that is not theirs.

I can confirm this monumental fuck-up in my case. I almost shredded this payment without opening it because the name was wrong.
They are hiding the death data - resistance to crossing the 100,000 death mark
Notice how the covid-19 death count has slowed as it approached 100,000?
Here is the CDC's Daily Updates of Totals by Week and State as of today, May 27, 2020:
https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/covid19/index.htm
Please note the number of deaths reported for the latest week, ending May 23, 2020.
Covid-19 deaths plummeted from 3,206 on week ending May 16, 2020, to only 155 on week ending May 23, 2020.
But then look at the percent of expected deaths column for the last 4 weeks.
May 2nd - 111%
May 9th - 99%
May 16th - 63%
May 23rd - 8%. !!!????
This shows that they are under reporting deaths to keep the number under the artificial target of 100,000 deaths, but they cant hide the fact because it shows in the total number of expected deaths for the week.
92% of all deaths on week ending May 23rd, 2020 have not been reported. And the decline in death reports since May 2nd shows that there is a systematic bias.
Why is the media not looking at this?
Bonus surprise in the first-aid kit
My wife cut herself in the kitchen today; just a minor nick on her finger. We took out the first-aid kit to get a band-aid and at the bottom of the kit, next to the roll of gauze, what do we find but four surgical masks!
Jackpot!
Quick and easy lesson on keeping social distance (for men)
Imagine you're going to the urinals.
My wife tried to break quarantine this weekend
To go visit her family on mother's day.
But every hotel in Mexico is closed due to COVID-19.
Let me repeat, every hotel in Mexico is closed due to COVID-19.
So even though we could have stayed at her mother's, or with one of her sisters, or with her daughter, the mere fact that they're taking COVID-19 so seriously in Mexico was enough to giver her second thoughts and stay in quarantine.
The Reality Based Community
The phrase was attributed by journalist Ron Suskind to an unnamed official in the George W. Bush administration who used it to denigrate a critic of the administration's policies as someone who based their judgements on facts. In a 2004 article appearing in the New York Times Magazine, Suskind wrote:
The aide said that guys like me were 'in what we call the reality-based community,' which he defined as people who 'believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality.' ... 'That's not the way the world really works anymore,' he continued. 'We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that realityjudiciously, as you willwe'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors...and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do'.
International relations scholar Fred Halliday writes that the phrase reality-based community (in contrast to faith-based community) was used "for those who did not share (the Bush administration's) international goals and aspirations". The source of the quotation was guessed to be Bush's senior advisor Karl Rove, although Rove has denied saying it.

Doesn't quite work for Pandemics, does it? Can't change this reality, can't argue with it, can't hide it, can't pretend it doesn't exist. Act away, history's actors. The reality based community will be here waiting when you get back from la la land.
