NY Times Paul Krugman, "Trump Doesn't Give a Dam" Its not a plan, its a scam.

Donald Trump doesnt give a dam. Or a bridge. Or a road. Or a sewer system. Or any of the other things we talk about when we talk about infrastructure.
But how can that be when he just announced a $1.5 trillion infrastructure plan? Thats easy: Its not a plan, its a scam. The $1.5 trillion number is just made up; hes only proposing federal spending of $200 billion, which is somehow supposed to magically induce a vastly bigger overall increase in infrastructure investment, mainly paid for either by state and local governments (which are not exactly rolling in cash, but whatever) or by the private sector.
And even the $200 billion is essentially fraudulent: The budget proposal announced the same day doesnt just impose savage cuts on the poor, it includes sharp cuts for the Department of Transportation, the Department of Energy and other agencies that would be crucially involved in any real infrastructure plan. Realistically, Trumps offer on infrastructure is this: nothing.
Thats not to say that the plan is completely vacuous. One section says that it would authorize federal divestiture of assets that would be better managed by state, local or private entities. Translation: Were going to privatize whatever we can. Its conceivable that this would be done only in cases where the private sector really would do better, and contracts would be handed out fairly, without a hint of cronyism. And if you believe that, I have a degree from Trump University you might want to buy.
God, I miss Obama .... total class on the portraits
The arts have always been central to the American experience. They provoke thought, challenge our assumptions, and shape how we define our narrative as a country.
Thanks to Kehinde Wiley and Amy Sherald, generations of Americans -- and young people from all around the world -- will visit the National Portrait Gallery and see this country through a new lens. These works upend the notion that there are worlds where African Americans belong and worlds where we don't. And that's something Michelle and I hope we contributed to over the eight years we were so privileged to serve you from the White House.
They'll walk out of that museum with a better sense of the America we all love. Clear-eyed. Big-hearted. Inclusive and optimistic.
And I hope they'll walk out more empowered to go and change their worlds.

Police identify suspect in death of two Westerville Police officers
Source: AP & NBC Ch 4
WESTERVILLE, OH (WCMH/AP) The Westerville Division of Police has identified the suspect in the shooting death of two police officers as 30-year-old Quentin Lamar Smith.
Westerville Police Chief Joe Morbitzer said officer Eric Joering, 39, died at the scene and his colleague, Anthony Morelli, 54, died at a local hospital.
Morbitzer said the officers were responding to a potential domestic situation. A neighbor who heard the gunfire said it happened at a home where the occupants were always arguing and fighting.
The officers gave their lives in defense of others, Morbitzer said during a news conference, struggling to keep his emotions in check. He called them true American heroes.

Less than 10 miles from my house.
BTW Thanx a lot NRA. A man with domestic abuse reports on him, numerous police runs to
his house, and his wife was trying to get a restraining order on him was able to keep a gun
on him or near him.
Candace Smith told police her husband has a gun that he carries all of the time, and if it isnt on him, it is close by.
It is playing out like this:
1) Trump/GOP We never talked to the Russians.
b) Trump/GOP Well, we talked to the Russians but not about the elections.
iii) Trump/GOP Well, we talked to the Russians and it was about the elections.
4) Trump/GOP Well, we talked to the Russians about the elections but they didn't
tamper in the vote.
e) Trump/GOP Well, we talked to the Russians about the elections and they did try
to tamper with the vote but it didn't effect the outcome of the elections.
And next up will be
vi) Trump/GOP Well, we talked to the Russians about the elections, they did try
to tamper with the vote with Trump/GOP/Cambridge Analytica help, and it effected
the outcome.

France to Trump: No Paris Agreement, no EU trade agreement
http://www.climatechangenews.com/2018/02/02/france-us-no-paris-agreement-no-trade-agreement-1/There will be no trade deal between the EU and US if the Trump administration follows through with its threat to withdraw from the Paris climate deal, a French minister said on Thursday.
Speaking to parliament, foreign affairs minister Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne said: One of our main demands is that any country who signs a trade agreement with EU should implement the Paris Agreement on the ground. No Paris Agreement, no trade agreement. The US knows what to expect.
In June 2017, US president Donald Trump announced his intention to withdraw from the Paris Agreement; a move he can only formalise in 2020, according to the the rules of the deal. He has also backed away from policies designed to deliver on US commitments to the accord.
Talks between the US and EU over the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTip) stalled in 2016 and have failed to revive under the Trump administration, with both sides unwilling to raise it in talks last year.

As the Protestant Christians became more extreme, the Republican Party was similarly becoming more extreme.
So, one thing that has happened, and one thing that has led the Republican Party to fantasy and wishful untruth more and more into its approach to policy
are now in the Republican mainstream, Andersen argued.
Things like a belief in a secret Muslim plot to overthrow the United States for Sharia Law, climate change being a Chinese hoax and even President Barack Obama is a secret Muslim and Donald Trump came to save America with the birther campaign, are all issues that are easy to believe if fantasy and wishful untruths are the norm. It makes it easier to accept conspiracy theories or fake news.
Anderson explained that he doesnt care if people believe what they want to believe in private. However, when religious belief bleeds over into how we manage and construct our economy and our society, theres a problem. It will cause lasting trouble for the country.
