"This is a test..."

Not to get too tinfoilhatty about it, but should it be a bit concerning that the "Required weekly test of the Emergency Broadcast System" has become a daily occurrence? The most recent, a couple of minutes ago, covered several states (Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Montana, to name a few that were listed in the black screen's crawl). Just gives me the squicks given the campaigns, also the anniversary of 9-11.

Anyone else notice this increased frequency of tests?

Thanks to the insipidness of your 'show' I switched channels. A couple of clicks down the dial I landed on CNN, where Suze Orman was being interviewed. I typically don't follow her, seeing as how my tiny income from social security doesn't put me in her usual conversations. Today, however, she was discussing the recent passing of her mother and the financial impacts of not having long-term care insurance, so I stayed to listen given that my own mother just turned 93.

Then the topic switched to the presidential race, and Orman was asked her opinion. The interviewer seemed a bit surprised when Orman explained why Americans are, in fact, better off than we were in 2008. If CNN makes videos available of their programs, this would be a good one to view.

I think the Republicans had it hard. After four years of obstructing government, they had to do something really difficult. They had to put together a convention in Tampa while God flooded Louisianna. They had to convince a bunch of white, christians that camels are skinnier and needles have bigger eyes these days. And then they had to breathe life into a $3,000 business suit.

Gessler's illegal voter witch hunt ends with a whimper

First of all, this argument that there is insufficient time to hold hearings on these 141 voters that Colorado Secretary of State Scott Gessler has narrowed down from a dragnet of thousands, while likely true, is not what Gessler office has previously stated. Back when the true number of improperly registered noncitizen voters was unknown, his office was fully prepared to travel the state holding "emergency" hearings to determine these voters' status.

So why isn't that happening?

The answer is simple: after years of fearmongering and the endless, irresponsible tossing about of conjectural and unverified figures, the final results of Gessler's obsessive quest to uncover what he has repeatedly warned are "thousands" of noncitizens casting ballots in Colorado elections are a total embarrassment.
