Trump seeks to block Treasury Department from giving his tax returns to Congress
Source: NBC
Lawyers for Donald Trump urged a federal judge Wednesday to block the Treasury Department and the IRS from handing his tax returns over to the House Ways and Means Committee.
The committees stated reason for seeking the returns, to examine how the IRS audits presidents, is simply a pretext for wanting to look for something embarrassing, the lawyers said in a filing in federal court in Washington, adding that the legal authority invoked by Congress has never been used against a president, a former president or any elected official.
While House Democrats had offered countless justifications for obtaining the presidents tax returns, no one at the time had ever mentioned a desire to find out how the IRS audits presidents," they said
The committee chairman's request for Trump's tax returns "bore little resemblance to an effort to investigate how the IRS audits presidents. It asked for the information of only one president, asked for open files for which audits have not been completed, and never asked the IRS for the most relevant information namely, how it audits presidents, they said.

Arkansas banned mask mandates. As schools get ready to reopen, the governor says he regrets signing
In hindsight, I wish that it had not become law, he said at a news conference on Tuesday.
In March, when covid-19 cases were declining, Hutchinson allowed a statewide mask mandate to expire. About a month later, he signed a bill that barred local officials from requiring face coverings.
Now, Hutchinson wants to undo that legislation. On Tuesday, he called for a special session to reevaluate the ban.

This park on the edge of northwest Detroit is the product of Jacqueline And Willie Moores love for their neighborhood and a desire to improve the lives of people in it.
"To have youth to be able to be in an enclosed area where they can really experience a park and not have to worry about street traffic," Jacqueline Moore said.
It started with the formation of SDM2 in 2011--- a nonprofit named after the couple's daughters to help kids find their footing academically.
The Moores gradually accumulated overgrown side lots and Land Bank property around their home on Lenore Avenue and transformed them into a sprawling park. There's a house where children receive tutoring and help with homework, as well as a community garden that, with the help of the group Food Rescue, feeds their neighbors.
