If I or anyone else wants to read Mensch and Taylor, it's really NOYDB. Sure I'm not alone on this

Funny all these attacks on her today. I and others consider her to be an ally.

If you don't buy her ideas, fine. That is your opinion, but others will continue to read her.

I have her back because she is putting herself out there and her safety on the line. She is researching things that no one including MSM is bothering with.

To me she is a soldier fighting for the USA. Brit she. Our country is worth fighting for.

She has shared that she has ADHD which is a curse and a blessing. It explains her research and methods. Hyperfocused and able to see connections from lots and lots of data... which is what the Trump/Russia is made of.

I for one am thankful for her time and energy.

Dear LM carry on! Brave woman and patriot.

edit:

I love this quote from Charlotte Little:

If I or anyone else wants to read Mensch and Taylor, it's really NOYDB.

I personally hope their right even if they get the details all squirrelly. In the meantime, I follow them on twitter just as I follow Maddow and O'Donnell. I'm a big girl, all grown up and capable of deciding for myself what I think is possible and what's not. Has nothing to do with it being "helpful for some purpose." I would imagine I'm not alone on this.

Do the Green and Libertarian Parties have open primaries?

>>>????

Wondering if we can vote in their primaries if we are not in their parties?

PS: How about a bunch of Dems voting in the next Republican primary? Get rid of Trump if he is still around.

PSS. What about a good bunch of Dems moving to those 3 States that decided this election?

How to spot the SUBTLER disinfo & trolls & bots & all that good sh*t

How to spot the SUBTLER disinfo & trolls & bots & all that good sh*t BY @AngelaArcese

How to spot disinfo. People have gotten savvier about recognizing Kremlin trolls, bots, and content. But some disinfo is subtler.
Bots = quantity. But there’s a quality game, too. The best disinfo comes from smart people you’re inclined to like, who share your values. Why does disinfo imitate content and people you trust? To control the narrative. Subtle disinfo provides frames that show you what to think about, and what not to think about. (And how to think.)

Here are some signs
that you’re encountering disinfo. I’ll add to this list as I continue learning.

Anti-American: America's not perfect, but good critiques are focused and fair. Disinfo paints America as generally corrupt and in decline.

Anti-journalism. Red flags: saying journalism doesn’t require training; writing essays (w no reporting) and calling them journalism.

Anti-security. Disinfo may attack and undermine faith in our intelligence agencies, leaving America more vulnerable.

Ideological. Disinfo may shift the frame away from hard news and toward free-floating ideas and interpretations.

Embiggening. Disinfo may make figures such as criminal politicians seem incredibly powerful, rather than human and flawed.

Downplaying. Disinfo may make figures who actually do wield a lot of power seem small, down-and-out, weak, victimized.

Dystopian. Some disinfo pushes a dark and hopeless worldview that makes you feel doomed.

Avoids hard topics. Disinfo may avoid topics of national security, or Putin’s aggressions in Ukraine and Crimea.

Echoes more obvious disinfo. Watch out for people who push the same lines as RT and Sputnik, or say the same things bots and trolls do.

Discourages information seeking. Disinfo may paint you as foolish for feeling suspicious. Questioning assumptions feels taboo.

Causes a physical response. When I encounter disinfo, I may feel cold or nauseated. Follow your instincts and learn your own physical tells.

Drags up the past. For example, disinfo will hammer on America's past aggressions to distract from the present info attack on the US.

Uses stereotypes to discredit. A woman might be "nutty," "loony," "need meds." An older adult might be "washed up," "irrelevant."

Logical fallacies abound. To arm yourself, brush up on red herrings, ad hominems, appeals to authority, etc. http://www.logicalfallacies.info

Case by case. Sift for disinfo article by article, journalist by journalist. Some publications are almost pure disinfo, but most won't be.

Trance-like. Disinformation can shut off rational thinking by heightening emotional state and using confusing messages.

This can happen no matter how intelligent and analytic you are. Thus I limit my intake of disinformation--even when I know it's disinfo.

I studied brand and corporate storytelling a bit. It's sort of . . . story lifted out of its context. Kind of cognition-oriented.
Focus on hero's journey, how story can alter behavior. Goal to sell or persuade, not story for story's sake. A real writer could miss it.

The Dubious Friends of Donald Trump parts 1 & 2: The Russians & King of Diamonds

ZEMBLA:

THE DUBIOUS FRIENDS OF DONALD TRUMP PART ONE: THE RUSSIANS

THE DUBIOUS FRIENDS OF DONALD TRUMP PART TWO: KING OF DIAMONDS

Although still in its early days, Donald Trump’s presidency is coming under fire. The Russians are alleged to be in possession of sensitive information about Trump. And that exposes Trump to blackmail. Fake news, tweets Trump: “I have nothing to do with Russia – no deals, no loans, no nothing!” Trump swears he has no ties with the Russians. But is that actually the case?

In the second part of our programme about Donald Trump’s controversial friends, we will set our sights on the Russian Jewish billionaire Lev Leviev, who is controversial because he is suspected of trading in blood diamonds. He is one of the world’s biggest diamond traders and owns prestigious stores in New York and Moscow, but he is also the owner of Siebel, the Netherlands’ biggest jewellery chain. Leviev has ties with Russian president Putin, US president Trump and his son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner. Trump, however, claims he hardly knows this “King of Diamonds” . Zembla investigates Lev Leviev’s business empire.

BREAKING: Federal prosecutors have issued grand jury subpoenas to Michael Flynn's associates

CNN exclusive: Grand jury subpoenas issued in FBI's Russia investigation
By Evan Perez, Shimon Prokupecz and Pamela Brown, CNN
Updated 9:06 PM ET, Tue May 9, 2017
Washington (CNN)Federal prosecutors have issued grand jury subpoenas to associates of former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn seeking business records, as part of the ongoing probe of Russian meddling in last year's election, according to people familiar with the matter. CNN learned of the subpoenas hours before President Donald Trump fired FBI director James Comey.

The subpoenas represent the first sign of a significant escalation of activity in the FBI's broader investigation begun last July into possible ties between Trump campaign associates and Russia.
The subpoenas issued in recent weeks by the US Attorney's Office in Alexandria, Virginia, were received by associates who worked with Flynn on contracts after he was forced out as director of the Defense Intelligence Agency in 2014, according to the people familiar with the investigation.
Robert Kelner, an attorney for Flynn, declined to comment. The US Attorney's Office in Alexandria, the Justice Department and the FBI also declined to comment.
Obama warned Trump about hiring Flynn
Investigators have been looking into possible wrongdoing in how Flynn handled disclosures about payments from clients tied to foreign governments including Russia and Turkey, US officials briefed on the matter have told CNN.
The Flynn inquiry is one piece of the broader investigation, which FBI Director James Comey testified in a Senate hearing last week is led jointly by the Alexandria US Attorney's Office and the Justice Department's National Security Division.

Al Giordano's Rules for 2020 Presidential Candidates ✔ @AlGiordano

Al's Rules for 2020 Presidential Candidates
Al Giordano ✔ @AlGiordano

1. Stories like this on potential 2020 presidential candidates have started, so here are MY ground rules:
2. Ronald Reagan used to cite his commandment: "Thou shalt not speak ill of another Republican." Democrats could learn from that...

3. My own policy is going to be an amended version: "I will only speak ill of 2020 Democrats who speak ill of Democratic values & leaders.

4. So if you're a candidate who is going to drag on President Obama instead of embracing his legacy, I'm going to hit your hard & often.
5. Likewise, if you're going to pander to the "Hillary Clinton was a terrible candidate" ...., I hope you can take it as hard as you dish it

6. But if you're out there talking about issues & strategy & tactics & how to get change, I'm not going to speak ill of you. And I expect...
7. ...that my mentions on social media be free of such internecine food fights. I will block people for dragging on any potential nominee...
8. ...except to counter any candidate who himself is dragging on other potential nominees (I'm especially talking to you,...).

9. If you're going to seek the Democratic Party nomination, you have a *duty* to leave that nomination in better condition than you found it
10. If in your ambition & selfishness you weaken the value of that nomination (& eventual nominee), then fuck you, it's going to be war.

11. We're all paying the steep price of those kinds of antics today, and we'll be paying them at least through January 20, 2021.
12. The Democratic nomination comes through millions of people who are very diverse but embrace one label: Democrat. Grok that!
13. We will defend closed primaries in states that choose them & will not broke any asshole trying to drag the legitimacy of their results.

14. We will sabotage any aspiring nominee who panders to non-Democrats by running against the DNC & lowering its value. We will destroy you.

15. Yes, we all have things we want the Democratic Party to do better. And we fight for them the effective way, within the family, not media

16. We will neither tolerate attempts to abandon the pieces of our coalition in favor of a re-centering of white and/or male voters.
17. If you're one of those people using those bottom-feeding tactics, & you think we hit you hard in 2016, you ain't seen nothing yet.
18. This time we'll be more ready to isolate, contain & marginalize you for trying to weaken the value of our vehicle to win in November.
19. If you want the nomination, you had better be adding to its value - no matter who the eventual nominee - every day of your campaign.
20. If you try to win by parasite tactics that suck away its value, you forfeit any right to that nomination. And you will lose. Badly.

21. Those are my rules from here to 2020: Thou shalt not speak ill of any Democratic presidential candidate who does not speak ill of others
22. But that rule has a rider attached: If you speak ill of the party or any of its potential nominees, the gloves come off. End memo.
