Basketball star Keyontae Johnson collapses during game - He was positive for Covid over the summer

He has been admitted to the ICU. No word yet whether this is related to Covid or not

Florida standout forward Keyontae Johnson, the Southeastern Conference's preseason player of the year, collapsed coming out of a timeout against rival Florida State and needed emergency medical attention. Johnson was taken off the floor on a stretcher and rushed to Tallahassee Memorial for evaluation.

The Gators said he was in critical but stable condition at the hospital.

Johnson had just dunked in transition before he fell to the floor as the team broke its huddle. Several Gators were in tears and a couple buried their faces in towels as coach Mike White gathered his team to say a prayer.

Like most of his teammates, Johnson tested positive for COVID-19 during the summer. Although the cause of Johnson's ailment was not immediately known, the coronavirus can lead to myocarditis, a viral infection of the heart muscle. At its most severe, myocarditis can lead to sudden cardiac arrest and has been a documented cause of death for young, otherwise healthy athletes.

I got an invite to a relative's Christmas dinner - 12 other people were invited.

Of the 12 people, only half are family members. The others, are her friends that I don't know well, or have never met. With her and her husband included, 15 people would be gathered.

I expressed my concern about gathering in doors with that many people.
She doesn't see it as a big deal. Even said, her friends have all been tested before and are negative. I said, well that's like taking a pregnancy test last month and saying you can't be pregnant at any other time.

She also invited my parents. Both of whom have pre-existing conditions. I have told them I do not think this is a good idea, even if they were to wear masks indoors. Why risk it?

After going back and forth with her all week, she said my parents and I could come earlier and leave before the other guests. Sigh, my own family member is a dumbass!

"You said Covid would go away after the election, my mom died 16 days after your election"

Just watched this family's story on CNN. Heart wrenching. The daughter was fighting tears as she said " You said Covid would go away after the election, my mom died 16 days after your election". She said her mom would ask if she was going to die. She tried to reassure her she wouldn't, she was wrong. Life long Republicans, they voted for Biden.

A grieving family in Trump country is fighting to prevent more Covid-19 deaths

The two-week Covid-19 test positivity rate in the county was more than 15% on December 8, according to county data. Of the county's 324,492 residents, at least 16,745 have been confirmed infected with the virus.
The Weld County Commission said it would not enforce any of the state's mandates.

SNIP ----
Mask initiative
The family has started an initiative called "Mask up for May," trying to get people to wear masks in the hope it will help save lives and prevent others from experiencing the pain of losing a loved one.
The family members have been lifelong Republicans in a conservative area, and feel let down by the lack of leadership during the pandemic.
President Donald Trump carried Weld County with almost 58% of the vote, according to the county's election website, and the Bunjes family feels that the county's disregard for masks and other measures is a reflection of the President's lack of leadership on the issue.
Trump said many times during the campaign that the virus would disappear after November 3, suggesting it was a ploy by Democrats.
"Oh, our own president saying, the day after the election that the coronavirus would disappear. Well, guess what, Mr. President, my mom died 15 days after your election and it didn't disappear," Strumpf said.
"It didn't go away. It's not going away. It's not a joke. My mom died 16 days after your flippant remarks, and I am devastated."

Kelly Loeffler speaking at Ebenezer in January

Sen Isakson - the man she replaced - was a regular at Ebenezer. It seems like she might have wanted to follow in Sen Isakson's footsteps. (In so much as, Sen Isakson, realized that he needed black voters to win and did not alienate them) Then she decided to abandon that to go full on Trumpian

Before her scorched-earth attacks, Loeffler shared a pulpit with Warnock and praised his church

In her remarks, Loeffler called Warnock's church a "sacred place" and, with Warnock seated just behind her, said she was "surrounded by men and women who advance the cause of freedom." She specifically praised Ebenezer Baptist Church, under the leadership of Warnock, as a place that "puts words into action."

I can only imagine how many bullets would have been fired if a black man did this

Bar Owner Hailed by Fox News Allegedly Drives Into NY Deputy Trying to Arrest Him Over COVID Violations

The Staten Island "autonomous zone" bar owner previously praised by Fox News was taken into police custody on Sunday after violating COVID-19 restrictions again.

The co-owner of Mac's Public House, Danny Presti, was arrested for reopening the bar and then allegedly hitting a sheriff's deputy with his while fleeing the scene.
The New York City Sheriff's Office said deputies tried to take Presti into custody after observing customers entering the bar through an empty commercial space next door, according to NBC New York. The bar had recently been ordered closed and lost its liquor license over breaking COVID rules.
The Sheriff's Office said that, upon deputies identifying themselves, Presti fled the bar on foot, reached his car, drove into one of the officers and then continued driving with the injured deputy hanging onto the hood of the car.

Mac's Public House was the site of a large protest earlier this week after the bar was shut down and Presti was arrested for ignoring orders from the sheriff's department to stop serving customers. Presti claimed the bar was an "Autonomous Zone." Supporters of the far-right Proud Boys group were among the hundreds in attendance.

The bar, which is within an area of southern Staten Island with rising COVID-19 cases, was on Wednesday praised by Fox News' talk show The Five, which compared its autonomous zone to the one that came about during summer protests in Seattle: "One [autonomous zone] was pro-business, one was anti-police, but they get treated completely different... [In Seattle], people got shot. Here, people just took a few shots. But all of the sudden, the guy's arrested for that? It's sick."
(How ironic, less than a week later, this guy runs over a cop)
