Blank check to Trump? We ignored this?

I'm REALLY worried about the following.

http://www.newsobserver.com/news/politics-government/politics-columns-blogs/under-the-dome/article196056019.html

We've just authorized secret intelligence funding powers over to Trump??? Both Dems and Repubs expressed serious concern, but the spending bill was rushed through. If I understand things correctly, now Trump doesn't have to have oversight on how he moves funds around in the intellgence arena.

This was first reported in The Intercept, but has also migrated to the link above (The Intercept is considered out of bounds by some DU editors. I'm not sure why and would love to hear the reasons.... the Intercept had issues in the past, but not sure where they are currently going astray if they are reporting stories like this).

But more importantly, see the next step in building a Trumpian police state in the link above.

We're Giving Trump a license to spy on us???

Really? 55 Democrats joined even more Republicans and voted to extend NSA surveillance power – a truly paranoid hold-over from 9/11 that has pushed our country into the current climate of distrust and extremism.

This is from NBC News:

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nbcnews.com/think/amp/ncna836836

Democrats have been all over the airwaves recently accusing Donald Trump of abusing the Justice Department to go after his political enemies —most notably his former opponent Hillary Clinton and the Clinton Foundation, which the Department of Justice is reportedly currently investigating based on allegation made during the 2016 presidential campaign. So you’d think they would oppose handing Donald Trump any more power with which he could potentially use against all sorts of Americans who attract negative attention from his administration.

Yet, with the help of some Democrats, the House of Representatives voted today — and the Senate will do so sometime in the next week — to extend a controversial NSA surveillance power that potentially affects millions of Americans’ privacy rights.

The New York Times:

And here's CNN:

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2018/01/12/politics/fisa-surveillance-weird-politics/index.html

This issue transcends partisan politics and should be given as much space in our daily dose of dialogue as Trump's stupid tweets or the latest cute cats. We are still victims of Osama Bin Laden if we continue to inflict so much destruction on our freedoms. This is a Democrat speaking. I want my country back!

The fact that Pelosi and other Democratic leaders supported the continuation of FISA suggests that they are not tuned into the growing progressive wave which is going to change a lot of things in November.

Get ready to vote, and vote with your eyes wide open.

Peace,

As a privacy-dependent ANIMAL, I find this distressing

Why DO Republicans hate Anerica?

This devastating rundown of US self-destruction by Carol Anderson should be shared far and wide. It's an excellent short list of what we need to fix when the BLUE TSUNAMI comes this November ("Vote for your country, vote Democratic" needs to be on EVERY Democratic car bumper and yard sign starting Labor Day)

The perplexing thing is that the author, however brilliant in her breakdown of the problem, didn't answer the question "why?" Is it just short-sighted greed and servile obedience to their masters? (Russians and campaign funders). Or is the Devil a real friggin' thing??? (says the spiritual atheist).

This is GROWING: Democrats command the narrative

There is a lot of noise and attempts at obfuscation among the punditry, but a single over-arching consensus is emerging: Russia under Putin is bad news and anyone taking money or connected to cyberwarfare support from Russia, is a traitor.

The Democrats don't need to control this narrative because it happens to be true. They do, however, need to continuously FOCUS the narrative by reminding the electorate that they have REAL patriots to elect next November.

Here's a reminder of what Democrats will protect America from:

Muellar timing arrests near Women's March

I'm certain Muellar is holding out for two reasons:

1) He's building an iron-clad case.

2) It's wise to wait for warmer weather. It will bring more people to the streets to back him up. Although there should in theory be no correlation, if I were tasked with saving the country from Putin and his sickly band of US traitors, I'd schedule more arrests just before the 2nd Women's March in cities around the country (January 20, 2018). Other roll-outs, leaks soon after that.

PLAN ON IT: Wonen's March 2018

What Are They???

All the Republicans who are protecting Trump (which is virtually all of them), radically shifting the nation's wealth to themselves and the 1%, undermining the US Constitution, and enabling the poisoning of our rivers, seas and minds.... these people AREN'T CONSERVING ANYTHING. They have bypassed all the loving, humanitarian principles of the Bible they claim to hold so dear. They aren't conservatives by any reasonable definition of that word.

So technically speaking, WHAT ARE THEY?

Replace Dem's Donkey with a Mustang?

New Year Resolution:
Change the damn donkey to a Mustang.

Why? Since Democrats have proven to be galloping into the future with greater poise and intelligence (best with the economy, most committed to public education, most consistently backing worker's rights, civil rights, the environment, etc).

Let's get innovative, beginning with the psychic rush of having an icon associated with the American frontier spirit. These are very independent horses – not the snooty Thoroughbreds and Quarter Horses.

Some online comments on Mustangs:

"I have mustangs of my own and once you get their trust they are they are very smart horses. I've had other types of horses but after I got mustangs I will never go back to another type of horse, because to me they are the best horses out there."

"To me at least, besides the fact that mustangs are the embodiment of our ideas and the spirit of the wild west, they are one of the most enduring and intelligent horses ever. They have survived without our help for as long as they have existed..."

Rethinking democracy!

Instead of beating our heads against the same old wall ... let's rethink the problem of governance:

Old Paradigm:

"SOCIALISM" vs "CAPITALISM"

New Paradigm:

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
. . . . econ . . . —— . . . econ . .
. . . . . . . —— . . . . —— . . . . . . .
. . . . — INFRASTRUCTURE — . . . . .
. . . . . . . —— . . . . —— . . . . . . .
. . . . econ . . . —— . . . econ . .
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Infrastructure = soft + hard operating systems with democratic oversight and the US Constitution as the source code. A universal basic income would allow more children to join the economy on a more equal footing with their luckier neighbors.

econ = a people's economy. Free enterprise that allows small businesses to fluorish free of monopoly intrusion.
