StarfishSaver's JournalThe ultimate in white privilege:
John Danforth just said that supporting Hawley "was the worst mistake I've ever made in my life."
This coming from the guy who also supported Clarence Thomas, so ...
BREAKING: MSNBC reporting 2 Trumpers arrested in the Capitol yesterday with loaded guns, ammo, etc.
They were charged with, among other things, trespass and ... wait for it ... assaulting an officer and attempting to flee.
They were apparently arrested without incident or injury.
Let's remember that the next time anyone tries to claim that a police officer was justified in shooting an unarmed black man running away from him because he "failed to comply with orders" or could have posed a threat.
Pelosi said the Chief of the Capitol Police still has not called her
Seriously?
He needs to go.
Biden has appointed two badass female civil rights lawyers to top positions at DOJ
Vanita Gupta, president of the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, will be Associate Attorney General.
Kristen Clarke, president of the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law will head DOJ's Civil Rights Division.
This hasn't gotten a lot of coverage but this is a BFD.
Questions for your Trumper friends who insist yesterday was brought to us by Antifa
1. Were those Antifa members masquerading as Trump supporters at the rally where Trump spoke?
2. If they were Antifa, how did they fool Trump into thinking they were his supporters. Is he that naive and stupid? Are his event planners that incompetent?
3. Were there any Trump supporters there or were they all Antifa? How do you tell them apart?
4. If they weren't Antifa members, when did Antifa show up? Were they the ones who marched from the rally to Capitol? If so, how come the Trump people didn't notice them when they showed up and started marching?
5. If it wasn't Antifa who marched to the Capitol, at what point did the Trump supporters disperse and Antifa members took their place? During the march? When they arrived at the Capitol?
6. Where did all the Trump supporters go after Antifa replaced them in the crowds?
And if they're still sticking to their story ...
7. If it was Antifa and not Trump supporters who did this, how is it that a confirmed Trump supporter get shot by Capitol Police while climbing through broken glass trying to get into the Speaker's Lobby? What was she doing there, how did she get into the Capitol and why was she in a mob of Antifa members? And how did Capitol Police know to shoot her and not Antifa members who were pretending to be Trump supporters? How much does it suck for you that of all of those thousands of Antifa members at the Capitol, the only person who got shot was a Trump supporter.
8. And, finally, several people claiming to be Trump supporters posed for selfies and other photos in various offices, Statuary Hall, and on the House and Senate floor and posted the online. If they weren't really Trump supporters but were Antifa members pretending to be Trumpers, has anyone been able to identify them? Have the real Trump supporters they are impersonating come forward to proclaim they were not anywhere near the scene?
Hopefully, by the time you get through these questions, they will either have given up or their heads will have exploded because the logic can't survive the empty vacuums of their brains.
Washington Post: Capitol breach prompts urgent questions about security failures
Ya think?
Nobody stopped them and some officers were captured on videos appearing to stand back as rioters streamed inside.
On Wednesday, while police were still struggling to eject the last intruders from the Capitol, current and former law enforcement officials said it appeared the U.S. Capitol Police and other agencies had failed to anticipate the size and intentions of the crowd that Trump urged to march up Pennsylvania Avenue to where lawmakers were gathered.
On the streets of Washington, federal law enforcement agencies and the National Guard which had been intimidatingly visible during protests this summer following the death of George Floyd kept a much lower profile.
And at the Capitol itself, police had set out low barriers and officers were largely in street uniforms, not riot gear. All were prepared to confine a protest, but not to deter an attack, law enforcement officials said.
Law enforcement experts said they were mystified by the tactics that police used once the mob was already inside the Capitol.
One woman was shot and killed by Capitol police as officers tried to stop a group from penetrating the building, according to two law enforcement officials, who, like others interviewed for this report, spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe security operations. But other police seemed to stand by, observing the disorder instead of stopping it: One image posted on social media showed an officer taking a selfie with one of the intruders, and a video seemed to show officers opening the security fence to let Trump supporters closer.
Police did not appear to try to detain the rioters, allowing them to leave unhindered. One even held a womans hand to steady her on the Capitol steps.

Why are these people all still on the Capitol grounds?

Not sure this is what she had in mind
