WIN JOE WIN

That's what the pretty red-white-and-blue signs say here at the Boston fundraiser that is starting to get crowded. I decided to grab one of the few chairs in the back and not try to see anything until something happens.

I went to a Warren gathering and now a Biden one. I hope a few more candidates come my way.

OMG a waiter with a tray of hors d'oeuvres just found me. I didn't know there would be food.

Vent about having to say no to a relative asking for money.

My Louisiana sister lives with her husband, her grown daughter, and her grown grandson--so a four-income household-- but just called me with a cockamamie story about needing to get her car out of the shop, and she gave them money orders totaling $1900 but they said they don't take money orders, so she tried to return them but couldn't because they were made out to the body shop, and she can't get the money for 30 days.

I felt like saying, "Ask your God or your so-called President for help, since you always give them the credit when things are good."

But I just said politely that I didn't have $1900 right now, sorry.

It's not like it would have been a loan; I would never see that money again.

It was going along just fine, the usual OK Seth Rogen movie featuring the gorgeous Charlize Theron and a lot of f-bombs. Then late in the movie, Seth's best friend, a successful rich black man, announces that he is a Republican, and kept it a secret because he knew how Seth would react. Seth was stunned. Then his friend announces that he is also a practicing Christian. Seth is blown away.

WTF! They hit us over the head with "see, there are very good people on both sides."

They really want us to believe that a Republican Christian is going to keep his shit a secret? He'd be that Blacks for Trump guy that stands behind Doofus at rallies.

Other than that, the movie wasn't bad. Wasn't great either.

My mother said her name today.

This means she's still there, starting the long road back to her feisty self.

Four days ago, two weeks from turning 96, she had a "big stroke" (the doctors' name for it). I'm in Baton Rouge, down from Cambridge, sleeping in her room. I've brought up the Andrews Sisters on YouTube, I've sung Que Sera Sera in her face, I've put a pad and pen in her lap and she's written random letters and numbers.

She just had her first session with the speech therapist, who knows Mom was a jitterbug star so she said we should play music and sing. I said we'd sing for her, and I put my face to Mom's and we sang the Que Sera Sera chorus. Her words were just sounds but those sounds were on key.

Dance, sing, live.

We just saw the movie Gloria Bell.

(No real spoilers)

Julianne Moore is always worth watching, but this slice-of-life movie threw a few plot threads out there that never got woven into a cohesive story. I kept waiting for things to happen. Not much did.

Greetings from Jet Blue Park

We drove down from Boston to see a Red Sox spring training game. Talk about rolling out the red carpet for ordinary people! A shuttle took us a couple hundred feet from the parking lot to the entrance. Hundreds of seniors (meaning, old people like us) in blue shirts are greeting and welcoming people like they're old friends.

The skies are blue, it's 83 degrees but our seats are in the shade, a funky band is playing, and I bought a new straw hat with a big B on the band.

Damage done! ⚾️⚾️⚾️

Huh. Our dog's eye pressure is high.

She's only four years old. Her comprehensive exam was today. One eye is ok. The ok range is up to 25, and hers is 31 in the other eye. He's sending home a prescription.

The drug name he told me on the phone is one I take -- for glaucoma. It will be interesting to see how dosages and costs compare.

Well, she takes after her mom. 😕

Our terrier-mix Luna is watching the Westminster Dog Show, thinking

"I don't need no stinkin' pedigree! My mom and pop love me just the way I am."

Very true.

Just saw "They Shall Never Grow Old."

This is an amazing documentary using ONLY 100-year-old film footage from World War I including front-line footage narrated by servicemen who were actually there.

Sounds impossible, but director Peter Jackson explains how they restored the film, corrected speed and quality, and colorized all the war scenes and even synced the voiceovers with the silent film. The narrators recorded their stories in the 1970's.

One hundred years! The people look, talk, and act like they're in a war movie made today, but the death and horror shown are real.

1.5 million people in Boston for the Pats parade today.

A couple more than Dumbass's inauguration crowd. ** snicker **
