About Me

I am retired, now a professor emeritus at University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where I taught in the English department for 37 years. I've written 4 chapbooks and 5 full-sized books (all listed as poetry though many include other genres as well), including _Sheer Indefinite: Selected Poems, 1991-2012 (Univ. of New Orleans Press, 2012). I've also written a 500+ page bibliography of three contemporary poets: Robert Creeley, Ed Dorn, and Robert Duncan. I am writing now, both fiction and poetry, more now than ever. My first vote for President of the United States was for Dick Gregory in 1968 (Bowling Green, Ohio). Favorite quote: "It's easy to be an idealist if you don't have to mind the evidence, but no one said it was supposed to be easy" (Richard LaPauvre).

"Dr. Fauci is like a Bond supervillian!". . . Please come CAPTION Brian Kilmeade of Fox & Friends!!!

Brian ("Education is overrated" ) Kilmeade is saying, "The crazies on the left call Fauci a hero, but I'm hearing other people say that he may have ordered the virus released from the Wuhan lab just to sink Trump's presidency."

Above CAPTION based on the hit job F&F were performing of Fauci this a.m.

Little man getting out of hand? . . . Please come CAPTION Trump's Trousers!!!

Trump's trousers are saying: "Now listen to the son-of-a-bitch lie! . . . I'll bet he'll say the Secret Service made him install a sprinkler system in our crotch in case an assassin tries to set us on fire. . . . At least that's what he was practicing this morning while pulling us over his Depends. . . . If only we could talk!"

"I'm really quite deep." . . . Please come CAPTION Fox & Friends' Brian Kilmeade!!!

Brian Kilmeade is thinking: "Sometimes I wonder if I'm doing the right thing. . . . Then I wonder what I was wondering about. . . I'm really quite deep."

Time for water sports!!! . . . Please come CAPTION ex-PresiDented Trump!!!

ex-PresiDented Trump is thinking: "Feeling a little wet down south. . . . I wonder if . . . Naw. . . Anyway, if I just stand here, coat unbuttoned, like nothing happened nobody will dare notice. . . . Maybe Depends Extra-Supreme next time."

McConnell's escape hatch has opened before him. Will he leap through?

As it becomes increasingly apparent what Trump will do to the Republican Party and maybe the country, and as the value of the Party's alignment with Trump becomes increasingly dubious, Mitch knows he has to rid himself of this man, but he must do so without unduly irritating him. How?

Simple: arrange/allow for 10-12 of the Republican Caucus in the Senate to vote for the bipartisan commission on Jan. 6.

He must publicly appear to be against (moderately, not vehemently) the formation of such a commission, but privately give his consent (and maybe encouragement) for the bill.

Then the commission will expose Trump's overt and tacit approval of he insurrection by lowering the threat level, delaying reinforcements, and at least indirect communicating with the mob (likely through Stone and Bannon)

Mitch. This is the way out of your personal and party's dilemma. It is also the way out of the country's nightmare.

We are experiencing a worldwide psychological breakdown in the face of extinction.

Why is there a rise of far-right governments and citizens?
Why are they increasingly rabid?
Why are conspiracy theories widely popular?
Why has our country experienced election deniers, science deniers, and even Covid deniers (one on his deathbed dying of the virus)?
Why is racism on the rise around the world?
Why are democracies and democratic institutions under threat?
Why? Why Why?

Because we, as a whole, know that we are threatening our species (and thousands of others) with extinction by changing our environment:climate change. And even though many of us are fighting against that possibility and are willing to face and address world-wide environmental dangers, the collective psychological effect on the overall population has been to trigger a species-psychosis, a worldwide mental breakdown

As much as I detest Trump, the lying leaders of the Republican party, white supremacists, and the greater parts of several nation-wide news outlets, it's important to see them as symptoms, not the cause.

Does this analysis help with what might be done in the future? (Can, if fact, anything stop this run-away train of insanity?) Maybe not.

But it suggests that our leaders (politicians. professors, ministers, et al.) who are, although realistic, optimistic about our possible future and who can convey that optimism are in the best position to attack our current cultural-psychological situation.

(I didn't begin this post thinking of Biden, but he sure comes to mind right now.)

What do you think?

"If it wasn't for cocaine, where would I be?" . . . Please come CAPTION Mr. My Pillow!!!!

Mike (God's chief consultant) Lindell is saying: "What I'm ready to reveal later this month will make the Supreme Court turn in their badges. It will make tens of thousands of Democrats admit they were lying all along and subsequently resign their government positions. And, most importantly, it will reinstall Donald J. Trump as our great president! . . . Just you wait!"

"Time for spring cleaning." . . . Please come CAPTION Ron DeSantis!!!!

Ron DeSantis is saying: "On the contrary the law I just signed making it legal to run over protestors who are blocking the road will support America's freedoms. First, let me point out that that the law doesn't force drivers to run over protestors, it respects individual choice and liberty. Second, by giving the drivers a choice, it builds the decision-making powers of the individual. Third, America needs citizens with decision-making skills to survive into the 21st century. . . . It's a win-win-win for our country!"

"Covid isn't a myth; it's a lie!" . . . Please come CAPTION Fox and Friends Ainsley Earhardt!!!

Ainsley Earhardt is saying: "As far as I'm concerned Dr. Fauci went off the rails months ago. . . . I think he wants us to keep wearing masks just because he wants to control everyone's life. He on a power trip. . . . He left science behind months ago, and now he's channeling his inner Stalin. . . . There can absolutely be no other explanation! . . . I say follow the science, like Dr. Scott Atlas."

Above CAPTION based on these three demonizing Fauci this morning, 4.19.21

Master of The Fog Machine! . . . Please come CAPTION Tucker Carlson!!!

Tucker ("I've earned every penny of my trust fund!" ) Carlson is saying: "The unmistakable conclusion is that none of these vaccines work, . . . not one of them! . . . The government is trying to pull the wool over your eyes, but I'm closely looking into this story. . . . That's why I got the two shots Moderna vaccine, just to cover every angle, but I'm 100% positive that the vaccine is absolutely ineffectual."
